Eagle's Nest

View Photos of Eagle's Nest

Eagle's Nest got its name because of the beautiful vantage point of this property.

Located on a quiet lane in the woods, and on a peaceful cove overlooking Grass Lake in central/mid Michigan (Gladwin / West Branch area), this waterfront Up North cabin is the perfect place to get away from the city and enjoy all that our "Pure Michigan" backyard has to offer. And the "bird's eye" view is fantastic !

Leave all of your cares behind and enjoy the quiet, secluded beauty and serenity of this property. You just can't beat this view or the size of this deck - the views are spectacular and the deck is massive (approximately 1400 square feet). The deck is built around a multi-trunk tree and surrounds 3 sides of the home where you can sit and enjoy the sounds and views of nature. And, with its fenced yard, it is dog friendly so you won't have to leave your family "fur face" behind.

Even though the exterior deck is massive, the interior of this home is warm and inviting, with a gas fireplace and miniature white lights strung along the vaulted open log ceilings of both the Living Room and Sun Room. A magical place to just settle in and relax.

And this property is a nature lover's paradise for all seasons.

Grass Lake is a non-motorized lake (meaning no speed boats, pontoons, etc.). It offers a great way to enjoy nature - via non-motorized boats (canoes, kayaks). If you love nature and don't want to be on a busy and noisy "sports lake", then this is the place for you - a place to get away from it all and unwind and unplug and enjoy nature at its finest.

However, if you are looking to mix it up a little and enjoy the secluded, quiet beauty of this property - and yet have "the need for speed" (motorized boats, water skiing, tubing, etc.) - you can have both ....

If you don't have your own watercraft, and are interested in renting motorized water craft, you can do that at Sugar Springs Marine and spend the day(s) on Lake Lancer at Sugar Springs  (which is only 15 miles away). Fishing is also great on Lake Lancer (Walleye, Pan Fish, Northern Pike and Bass to name a few). Lake Lancer is also a great place to go for ice fishing during the Winter months.  There are also several other lakes nearby - Hoister, House and Trout lakes.

If you are a golfer, there are many golf courses in the area including "The Dream" and "The Nightmare", "Lakeside", "Gladwin Heights Golf Course", Devil's Knob Golf Course . as well as the Sugar Springs Golf Course.  The championship Sugar Springs golf course (designed by Jerry Matthews) has been rated at three stars by Golf Digest and listed as one of the 25 Best Public Courses in Michigan by The Michigan Golfer.

Want to take advantage of the many ATV/ORV trails in the area ? Check out this information - http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7-153-10365_15070-38330--,00.html

If you are into snowmobiling, then this is definitely the place for you! Eagle's Nest is the ideal location for snowmobiles. You can get on your sled in the driveway and within 1/4 mile you will be on the snowmobile trail. You decide how far you want to go - including all the way to Mackinaw !

And, if you are into birding, hiking, and hunting or cross country skiing, you can take advantage of the many areas nearby - including 85,000 acres of the Gladwin State Forest. A short 1/4 mile from the property you will be on State land and, if you have not yet purchased a hunting license, you can do so at Hunter's Paradise which is right around the corner.

Birds and Wildlife are abundant - Deer, Wild Turkey, Fox, Eagles, Turkey Vultures, Loons, Blue Heron, Hawks (and maybe even a bear) - just to name a few.

Are you a daring Mountain Biker? If so, we have the place for you ! The trails at Gladwin County Recreation Area were rated as 4 out of 5 stars by "SingleTracks" ( https://www.singletracks.com/bike-trails/gladwin-county-recreation-area.html ).    As one reviewer posted "New sections for 2016 appear to have the length up to about 9 miles. This is a really interesting trail. Good mix of fast flow and slow tech. Shhh! it is Michigan's best kept secret."  There are additional trails in the Ogemaw Hills area as well as others in outlying areas. Ogemaw Hills is also a great place for snowshoeing.

As you can see by the photos, the Autumn color on the lake is simply beautiful, as it also is when covered in snow. Since this is a brand new property we do not yet have photos for Spring & Summer - but they will be coming soon and we are confident that the views will be equally as stunning throughout the seasons.

And, there are so many other places to see while staying at this property ...

Check out the local Amish farms where you can find fresh produce, eggs and baked goods. Or head over to The Oasis Salon & Spa at the Riverwalk Place in Gladwin for a day of total relaxation, or Hartwick Pines State Park, with it's logging museum, chapel and hiking trails.

Visit the Cider Mills / Apple Orchards or Wineries nearby or in the outlying areas.

The nearby Rifle River offers excellent canoeing, cross country skiing, ice fishing and snowmobile trails.

Or take a day trip to Tawas and enjoy the beautiful Lake Huron shoreline, lighthouses and the great shops in downtown Tawas.

If you are feeling lucky you can head over to the Saganing Eagles Landing Casino in Standish.

There are also several scenic drives in this area ... The River Road National Scenic Byway  - if you decide to take this byway, be sure to stop at Iargo Springs and/or the Highbanks River Trail for Hiking & Cross Country Skiing.

No matter what you are looking for, or where your interests lie regarding a vacation getaway - whether on the property or in the nearby vicinity - you will see that Eagle's Nest has a lot to offer.
